Quittance | A Poem by P.K. Deb

Most wanted
By indebted.
Heavier than mountain —
Debt during poverty
Flows like fountain.
It falls from above
To invade poor’s future,
Starts heartless sucking job
And meets expanding nature.
Debt shapes into colossal figure
Flattens the poor on soil
Exploits to the last level
Banishes him to horrible hell
Of humiliation as street beggar.
Begging hunts poor’s respect and honour,
No! he screams, declares a war —
The war is the last resort
The last bite, the last effort,
Cosmic rays of hope get independence;
Debt gets evaporated, poor gets quittance.
